Chakapa: musical rattle, handmade and one-of-a-kind
Sound healing tool for ceremony. Each chakapa is hand-made by Sakura Rose and one-of-a-kind using locally foraged bundles of bamboo leaves mixed with dried pampas grasses, flowers and feathers.
A chakapa is a bundle of dried leaves to shake and create rhythmic sounds during ceremony and ritual. The chakapa can be used to clear and purify space, similar to smudge, to sooth the energy around a person, to guide visions or energy and flow and to shift the energetics of the space.
When shaken, the chakapa gives a gentler sound than a regular rattle, like a soft, rustling sound which created a grounding and calming sensation. Traditionally chakapas have been used in the Amazon for ceremony synchronized with healing songs called icaros and direct the intentions of the practitioner, healer and ceremonialist.
